School of Rock Worship II
Date: June 25 – June 29, 2012
The School of Rock Worship II is a rock band day camp for youth ages 11-18, June 25-29 in Salisbury MD.
Campers learn musically, grow spiritually and have a lot of fun playing modern worship music as the basis.
Students choose an instrument track they like (vocal, guitar, bass, keys, drums or other instrument).
There will be beginner and advanced level instruction offered. No matter what skill level they enter with, campers will leave as much improved musicians and singers. Students will see authentic , excellent worship music modeled and then be trained in how to do that.
Everyone will play a live concert in front of an audience of friends and family at the end of the week.
The camp is open for youth ages 11-18.
Director of the School of Rock Worship is Rob Still, (http://robstill.com) a Nashville music producer, songwriter and worship pastor. Rob has over 20 years of experience in youth ministry training young worship musicians. His former students have gone on to play for artists such as Paul Baloche, Matt Redmond, Kim Walker (Jesus Culture), Jason Upton, Kelly Clarkson and Michael W. Smith. Rob has an international worship teaching ministry (http://robstillministries.org) and has a passion for youth, worship and music.
Additional staff will be announced prior to camp.
Monday June 25 10:00am – 4:00 pm (Arrival and Check-In 9:15 – 9:50 am)
The first day we will evaluate skill levels, form our teams and pick songs. Each team will work on 3 – 4 songs during the week.
Throughout the camp, we will have short seminars on subjects such as:
- what is worship;
- music fundamentals,
- understanding the roles of each instrument;
- songwriting, and
- coaching on how to play together as a group.
Tuesday through Friday 10:00 am – 4:00 pm
School of Rock Worship Band Camp hours will run from 10:00am to 4:00pm Monday through Friday.
A typical day:
- begins with a short group worship time and teaching,
- followed with instrument-specific instruction focused on song learning and instrument proficiency.
- The morning schedule also includes a series of ensemble rehearsals, and live stage performance classes.
- After lunch there are additional instruction classes,
- interactive song-writing sessions,
- band rehearsals, and
- more on-stage performance time.
- We’ll mix it up with breaks and some “just for fun” group activities.
Friday Night Concert 6pm – 7:30 pm
The week will culminate in a Friday night “worship concert” for the entire camp, family, and friends.
Students will receive certificates of graduation.
